As founder of the MO.CO.VA. (Second Vatican Council Movement), together with p.Giovanni Franzoni, representative of the base communities, I recently participated in the Genzano Meeting in Rome, organized by VOCATIO, the Italian movement of married priests. Subject: the freedom to choose the celibacy. Celibacy has to be lived without coercion, in the happyness and in the sentimental expansiveness on brothers and sisters.

On August, at Atlanta, in the United States, the same meeting, with the same subject was held at international level.

In sight of the Jubilee we agreed on a solemn petition, to the Pope, for the abrogation of the celibacy law.

Ingenuous idealists? No, only realist visionaries. The legalistic walls of Gerico will fall down under the weight of roses. This is the law of life and of soul.

Priest Dr. Franco Ratti
