I am glad to disclose this prayer by Teresa d’Avila, a very active mystic woman of ‘500:
“Lord of my soul, You, when you were wandering on earth, you did not abhor women, but you favored them with benignity and you could find a lot of love and more faith in them than in men.
… So why should we not be able to do something good for You in public?
Why should not we dare say unashamedly some truths, we cry over secretly?
You are a fair judge and never act like the judges in the world, male judges to whom all the women’s virtues have to be suspected.
Oh, my King, come the day when everybody will be recognized only for their value!”
