Dear editor,

the “affair” of cardinal Giordano, archbishop of Napoli, suggests me the following considerations:

The Concordat is a melancholic residual of the Constantinian-Theodosian age
Jesus Christ would never understand and tolerate (neither He understands and tolerates now) the Vatican State, an authentic legal and religious “monster”.
According to the democratic right, the Church has to accept to become again just a religious “community”, on the same level of other religions.
Money should not be demonized, and the ecclesiastical base should have the absolute economic control on the top in order to avoid that the Hierarchy (above all the Vatican) remain an economic “sect”.

If the Jiubilee of the year 2000 does not want to be an empy celebration, it has to imply the conversion of the church-institution into its Founder, is values precisely the refusal of any power and compromise.

Priest. Dr. Franco Ratti
