Martini: “It is important to recognize that the prosecution of physical human life is not the first and absolute principle in itself. Above it there is the principle of human dignity…”.

Mancuso: “…The absolute value is the dignity of human life that accomplishes itself as liberty…”.

The aim of creation and history is liberty because love can only come from it.

And what if Ratzinger was a follower of Lefebvre (even slighter, smarter, and one who likes compromises more than Lefebvre) who has conquered the power legally?

Now it is clear: acceptation of II Vatican Council by Ratzinger cannot be but formal.

For Ratzinger and the followers of Lefebvre, ensnared, the Council is only doctrine. The rest is style, method, sense of the contingent. Recognizing the reality of the Shoah in its proportions, opting for the liberty of conscience is a question of style, not substance. Such an slight and sharp distinction between doctrine (substance) and style is the genial and sulfuric stigma of the German man.
