“Must be preferred”. It is not about “superiority”, which sounds hierarchic-medieval. Jesus, the Fathers and the Scholastics, along His example, have proclaimed the unequalled excellence of virginity.

The rigorous and precise language of the Dogma is the result of the pure love for the Truth, to know and explore, like the Lover’s body, in all its reliefs and ravines.
It is absolutely out of place transferring the same rigour in a liturgical field. Liturgy is feast. Also and mainly when it celebrates the Sublime Sacrifice. The Mass must never fall off to a gloomy and mortuary rite. “Let the dead bury the dead”.
We have to be absolutely grateful to the theological-philosophical ministry of s.Tomas mainly to his peremptory and sleepless distinction between natural order and supernatural order, supreme criterion of every theology worth of this name.
