“JESUS OF NAZARET”

Four observations on Benedict XVI. Joseph Ratzinger’s ”Jesus of Nazareth”.

a) Jesus is absolute intimacy with the Father, underlines the author without drawing, however, the capital consequence of this capital statement: the absolute and essential primacy of the mysticism in the life of Jesus, a primacy that was disregarded and feared by the church. In fact, the authentic mysticism comes with “no power”.

b) If the essence of Jesus is mystic the key to it is the mysticism and not the “sensible” reason of Ratzinger.

c) It is necessary to be honest and honestly recognise that the true objection to the divinity of Jesus is the failed end of the world expected by Himself and His disciples. Ratzinger and Martini avoid the topic. d) The believer believes in Jesus because he experiences Him alive. Conclusion. We are not interested in Popes-professors but Popes-witnesses, simple and radiant, of the Christ event. Open to reason, above all to men.
