RUPPI AND ISLAM

I’ve been, to say the least, upset by Monsignor Ruppi’s words, archibishop in Lecce: “It is impossible to have a dialogue with Islam”.
Upset as a man, as a catholic, as a priest.

  1. As a man. Democracy, in which I personally believe, can not be imposed on any person and People.
  2. As a catholic. We are irreversibly shaped by the Vatican Council II, the council of the dialogue. You can not have a dialogue only with people that are able to. Wanting the dialogue is pure and simple fundamentalism.
  3. As a priest. I verify that a few bishops are too close to the Council of Trento, the council of the opposites and distances.

As a Christian. Hope is the DNA of History. Every human event, included Islam, is plastic so that can be modifiable and improved. It is up to us.
